Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities
Wheeling Forward's Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities is currently a pilot program at City University of New York's Baruch College. The program is administered by Baruch College's Office of Services for Students with Disabilities. Decisions on scholarship disbursements are made by Baruch College's Awards Committee with input from the Disability Services Office, in accordance with the criteria established by Wheeling Forward. Applications should be requested from and submitted to the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities, located at Room 2-271 of the Newman Vertical Campus.
The program is allocated for two specific need-based scholarships, which are the:
College Beginners' Scholarship
This need-based scholarship is meant for those disabled individuals who have never attended college previously and would like to begin attending. This scholarship will cover the tuition of 1-2
courses for an individual, who otherwise may not be eligible for financial aid due to various reasons. We hope that by providing a means for a disabled individual to try attending college they can
build confidence and continue to pursue their education in the future.
General Scholarship
This need-based scholarship is meant to assist disabled individuals attain their education by whatever means may be necessary given their circumstances. It may be allocated for tuition, assistive
technology, books, or any item that is related to their education.
We hope to expand the program to other colleges in the future.
